Activated charcoal is the beauty ingredient of this moment. It’s especially added to facial cleansers and masks, but also to toothpaste because it removes tannin (causes teeth discoloration by coffee and tea). Nowadays you can even get juices with charcoal to absorb toxins. The use of charcoal to clean your body is not new, charcoal is used in the hospital for years with alcohol poisoning and drug overdose. Besides that Asian skincare isn’t for nothing a trend because they’ve used charcoal for years as a beauty product.
Charcoal for your skin.
Charcoal is a perfect ingredient for cleaning your skin. It extracts excess sebum, dirt and oils from your skin as a magnet. Charcoal is especially suitable for combined to oily skin, but it’s an ingredient that doesn’t dry the skin so it’s suitable for any skin type.
Below three products with charcoal that I use myself.
Boscia Charcoal Makeup Melter.
First the Charcoal Makeup Melter of the Japanese brand Boscia, a very nice cleaner I’ve already written a review about. It’s a deep cleansing oil balm that detoxifies your skin and removes clogged pores.

Sephora Collection Cleansing & Exfoliating Wipes – Charcoal.
These cleaning wipes from the Sephora Collection are great. The double sided wipes remove all makeup and dirt. With the exfoliating side you remove gently impurities and dead skin cells, while the other side effectively removes all the dirt and makeup.

Sephora Collection Micellar Cleansing Water & Milk – Charcoal.
Also from the Sephora Collection a micellar water. In total Sephora has 4 different micellar waters from their own collection and one is with Charcaol. This cleanses and detoxifies while dirt and makeup are removed.
