There are more and more deodorants on the market without the ingredient Aluminium and they all fall under the term healthy deodorants, but why? Aluminum in deodorants (and also in cosmetics and food) is linked to breast cancer and Alzheimer’s, it’s a metal that’s toxic to your body. Aluminium is an ingredient that’s active against excessive sweat production, it sees to it that the sweat glands pinched closed so that there’s no transpiration. That this is bad for your body is not yet scientifically proven, but on the other hand, why would you take the risk?
I’ve used for a while deodorants with a very high concentration of Aluminum (Lady Speed Stick and Secret), fine deodorants which obviously do their job, but as with every deodorant my skin get used to the same deodorant after a while and I’ve to switch to another deodorant. After the Lady Speed Stick I decided to try deodorants without Aluminum. It seems that this works equally well against odors but less against transpiration (well, there is of course a reason why they add Aluminium to deodorants), but I’ve also heard that you have to give it some time and that your body and your skin need to get used to it.
Healthy Deodorants.
Meanwhile I’ve 3 “healthy” deodorants, 2 are stick and 1 is a roller.
Lavanila The Healthy Deodorant.
I start with my favorite of the 3. This one is appropriately named The Healthy Deodorant by the brand Lavanila. The deodorant is for sale in different variants, I’ve chosen the variant Vanilla Grapefruit, it has a wonderful fresh and soft scent. The deodorants of Lavanila contain soothing essential oils and powerful antioxidants for a healthy protection of your armpits. Cruelty Free. Clinically tested. Dermatologist recommended. No aluminum. No parabens. No harsh chemicals.
The stick has a capacity of 57 grams.

Nubian Heritage.
This deodorant I bought at Walmart, they only had the variant Coconut & Papaya but this deodorant is also in three other variants. This deodorant by Nubian Heritage has coconut oil as a basic ingredient which contains healthy fats and keeps the skin supple, papaya works rejuvenating on the skin. The Nubian Heritage brand has several collections of skincare, all based on different natural ingredients, the collection Coconut & Papaya for example contains also soap, body lotion, body wash and hand cream. Cruelty Free. No aluminum. No parabens. No harsh chemicals.
The stick has a capacity of 64 grams.

Neutral 0%.
The brand Neutral is available at the drugstore. This deodorant is completely odorless and fragrance free and therefore very suitable for sensitive skin. No parabens, no perfume and no coloring but it does contain Aluminium chlorohydrate! So always check the ingredients list when looking for a deodorant without aluminum, in this case the 0% isn’t about aluminum. Where the other 2 deodorants contain a cream, this deodorant contains a lotion.
The roller has a capacity of 50 ml.
Conclusion.
Because these 3 deodorants don’t have a strong smell of itself they help accurate to unpleasant odors. Strongly scented deodorants don’t work for me and seem to make it worse. In terms of antiperspirant they work fine, just as good as the Lady Speed Stick but I must also honestly say that I don’t easily perspire under my armpits, if you are suffering from that then you just need to test what works best for you. The Lavanila is favored because of the smell and the substance of the stick, the Nubian Heritage is a good 2nd, the smell is fine and the substance is creamier than the Lavanila stick. The deodorant Neutral is completely odorless and does good work but is not so special and I think it’s annoying that it contains Aluminum because I’m looking for good deodorants without aluminum.
