The third interview on my blog of a Power woman who has earned her stripes in beauty land, this time Linda Bot from Loveli. I have written an article about the Loveli brand before because I am a fan of its pure deodorants without aluminum. The Loveli brand consists of 100% natural products. In addition to deodorants, which started it all, Linda now also has a fairly extensive and 100% natural skincare collection. She also likes to tell more about her latest product, a foot deo.

Frieda – What does a working day look like for you as the founder of Loveli?
Linda – The first thing I do is make a cup of tea and then I start writing. Sometimes a newsletter, sometimes a blog and sometimes a recipe for a new product. I find myself most creative early in the morning. Then I take a shower and then I go for a walk for more than an hour before turning on my phone and having my first call of the day. It is during that hour of walking that the best ideas come. The rest of the day consists of meetings interspersed with experimenting in my lab. I check the mailbox in between, but I often forget. I’m happiest when I’m creative and my mailbox sometimes gets the worst of it. Luckily I have a great team that Loveli will keep going when I start creating again.
Frieda – Can you share with us what you keep in mind when creating products.
Linda – I mainly make what I need myself. For example, I cannot find a shampoo that is 100% natural and also has a nice foam. Then that is the starting point with which I will come up with a recipe. And even when I write a blog, it is mainly about a subject that I would like to know more about myself. I believe that I’m not that special and that if I have a question or need there are probably many more women with the same question. And that turns out to be the case.
Frieda – Do you have a personal favorite among your own products?
Linda – I cannot choose one product that I’m the most fan of, because every product feels like my child. But I do know that I will not miss a day without the Face mist and the eye serum. When they run out, I almost panic, they work that well.
Frieda – What do you find most challenging as an entrepreneur?
Linda – Learning to delegate. If you are just starting out as an entrepreneur you do everything yourself. It’s really learning to let go of things and realize that sometimes others are better at things than you are. And then also see and accept that sometimes things go differently than you would yourself. But it is impossible to grow and make an impact on your own. Delegating is really something I have to learn. Finding the balance between doing everything exactly the way I do and giving it too much freedom is what I now have to learn.
Frieda – I feel most beautiful when…
Linda – When my skin has gotten a little bit of color from the first rays of the year. Then I quickly feel radiant.
Frieda – I’m a big fan of your aluminum free deodorants. Can you tell us more about your wake-up call and your inspiration for Loveli?
Linda – How great that you are such a fan of the Loveli deo! For me, my wake up call came about 10 years ago when my mother developed breast cancer. She was then told that she was no longer allowed to use aluminum deodorant. I didn’t even know at the time that there was aluminum in a deodorant. And I thought, you can tell that to someone who has breast cancer, but isn’t that just as important to someone who doesn’t have breast cancer? For me, that started a search for more information, but also for an alternative. Because what do you use? There were already deos without aluminum for sale at the health food store, but nothing worked well enough for me. I then started experimenting myself and after about 100 tries I had a deo that made me very happy. And when it turned out that my friends were super enthusiastic, I thought that maybe I could turn it into a company. That was the start of Loveli.
Frieda – You have just developed a foot deodorant, can you tell us more about it?
Linda – The foot deo is perhaps the first product that I didn’t immediately need. But my boyfriend all the more. When we first got to know each other, I was amazed at the musty smell in his house. Later I found out it was his shoes. For me a very good reason to experiment with a deodorant especially for the feet. And since my boyfriend has been using my foot deo, his house smells nice and fresh again.
