Ole Henriksen is a beauty specialist from Denmark who made his name in America and also lives there, his spa on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles is popular among Hollywood stars and other celebs, his skincare line is now for sale in 12 countries and has won several awards. The skincare line from Ole Henriksen is very extensive and, like each brand, has a number of bestsellers that I was very curious about and which I’ve tested. I’ve tested three different products from the Ole Henriksen skincare and I can tell you that it’s a long time since I‘ve been so excited about a skincare line.
Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster.
What‘s striking about the Ole Henriksen is that they all smell very natural, this serum with Vitamin C smells like orange. The amount of Vitamin C doesn’t lie, Truth Serum Collagen Booster contains a whopping 10% Vitamin C, to give you an idea, Vitamin C works only in high concentration and a skin care product must contain at least 4% if it wants to give effect on your skin. It’s also important that the Vitamin C is in a stabilized form, and that’s the Vitamin C in this serum. Vitamin C improves the production of collagen in your skin and it has a beneficial effect on acne and pigmentation, this serum by Ole Henriksen reduce lines and wrinkles and prevents further damage to the skin such as the sun and is also suitable for under your eyes.
The serum has a light orange color and comes in a glass bottle with a pump dispenser.
By making use of a pump there will be no oxygen in the serum so it won’t lose any important ingredients, one pump at a time is enough for the face and neck.
The serum is very thin and feels light on the skin, is not greasy and absorbs quickly.
The ingredients.
Water (Aqua), Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Calcium Ascorbate, Sorbitol, Glycerin, Tocopheryl Acetate, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Euphrasia Officinalis Extract, Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Seed Extract, Oleth-20, Hydroxyethylcellulose, PEG-12 Dimethicone, Benzophenone-4, Sodium Hyaluronate, Thioctic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Hexylene Glycol, Limonene, Linalool, Citral, Fragrance (Parfum), Yellow 6.
The serum is oil-free and contains no parabens, sulfates and phthalates, it contains soothing ingredients and is therefore suitable for all skin types. The 2nd ingredient on the list is the stabilized Vitamin C that’s so important (Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate), the ingredient Sodium Hylauronate ensures a good hydration of the skin. Furthermore there are a lot of antioxidants in the serum, including Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) which reinforces the Vitamin C to do an even better job.
Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Gel.
Ultimate Lift, that sounds, for someone who’s in there late thirties (moi), like music to my ears ha! This eye gel is in particular suitable for the night but may also be used in the morning. The blue gel smells like cucumber and gives a lifting and cooling effect around your eyes so that you wake up with a rested glance in the morning.
The eye gel comes in a glass jar which is unfortunate because this way the natural ingredients don’t remain stable and it’s also not very hygienic.
The texture is kind of a thick gel that feels a bit sticky at first but gives a fresh feeling around your eyes. Use the eye gel as the last step in your skincare for the night and apply it around your eye, so under your eye and your brow bone, it can even be used on your eyelid.
The ingredients.
Water (Aqua), Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Oleth-20, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Copper pca, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Euphrasia Officinalis Extract, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Potassium Hydroxide, Arginine, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Steareth-20, N-Hydroxysuccinimide, Chrysin, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide.
No parabens, sulfates and phthalates. The Biopeptide (Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Palmitoyl Oligopeptide) in this eye gel are considered as the most powerful anti-aging ingredients from nature and give a boost to the production of collagen in your skin so that wrinkles and fine lines are less visible. The cucumber extract (Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract) soothes and cools the skin around the eyes and reduces puffiness.
Tip; keep the eye gel in the fridge for an extra cooling effect.
Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel.
This really is my favorite of the three! This one step exfoliation with lactic acid, glycolic acid and fruit acids combined with orange and lemon extract exfoliates the skin so that a soft and smooth skin appears. The peeling reduces fine lines, pores and sun spots “it’s like a strip tease for your skin”.
Whit the peeling comes a soft brush with which you can apply the peeling easy on your skin and you don’t need to go in the jar with your fingers. Apply evenly on the skin and let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse it off with lukewarm water, finally you apply a moisturizer. The product creates a slight tingling sensation on your skin and when you have a very sensitive skin it’s advisable to shorten the processing time to approximately 5 minutes.
Also the peeling is kind of a thick gel and you only have to use a thin layer each time. It probably also would have been better when the peeling had not been in a glass jar, but this product works hygienic because of the brush that’s comes with it.
The ingredients.
Water (Aqua/Eau), Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Carrageenan, Glycerin, Potassium Hydroxide, Xanthan Gum, Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Acer Saccharum (Sugar Maple) Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Rhizome/Root, Tocopheryl Acetate, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Oleth 20, Citric Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Limonene, Fragrance (Parfum).
No parabens, sulfates and phthalates. The moisturizer in the peel (Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract) ensures that your skin doesn’t dry out during the peeling. Furthermore, there is a soothing algae extract in it, because when your skin is calm the active ingredients can do their jobs much better.
Conclusion.
Ole Henriksen is really a very fine brand, perfect if you don’t have much time but still want to take care of your skin in the best way possible, my skin is very happy by all the natural ingredients the brand uses.
I use the Truth Serum Collagen Booster without using an extra moisturizer because this serum gives me enough hydration, but probably when you have drier skin it’s better to use an extra moisturizer over the serum. What I love about this product is that you can use it all the way to your eyes and you don’t necessarily need to use a separate eye care product, also the fact that it absorbs so quickly into your skin is a big plus. In the morning my skin is smooth and bright thanks to the high dose of Vitamin C.
The Ultimate Lift Eye Gel feels very nice on the skin because of the cooling effect, because the structure is very sticky it’s best to use it for the night, if you still like to use in the morning let it absorb well before applying any make-up.
My favorite is the Lemon Peel Strip Flash that I use 1x a week, my skin is incredibly soft and imperfections are greatly reduced. It’s very nice to use because it’s only one step and you can rinse it already after 10 minutes, the tingling effect gives me the feeling that it works and it doesn’t dry out my skin.
