Northern Lights Candles

Scented candles, which blogger doesn’t talk about it or use them standard in his or her photos. In America I always have the urge to take a number of Yankee Candle with me, they make my luggage so heavy, but otherwise!

Recently I came in contact with Northern Lights Candles, a company from New York which makes scented candles with a natural soy blend. The candles contain scented oils and essential oils, with occasional synthetic odor when needed to achieve superior aroma and long-lasting aroma.

Soy candles have many advantages over paraffin candles. They burn longer, spread the odor better, are better for your health and burn up completely. Paraffin itself is non-toxic but combustion releases harmful substances, such as benzene that’s also contained in cigarette smoke. Soy wax is made of soybeans and is biodegradable and therefore also better for the environment.

One of the new Northern Lights Candles is the Shibori. This ceramic shibori bowl is inspired by the zen spa and is available in 4 different aromatherapeutic scents. I have the smell Clarity, a warm patchouli scent with cedar and musk. The candle will burn for 50 hours.

Tips with scented candles:

  • Cut the wick a bit shorter. This way the candle doesn’t smoke unnecessarily and you have a more controlled flame.
  • Don’t let the candles burn too short, make sure the entire surface is liquid, otherwise there will be remnants of candle that you can’t burn anymore.
  • When you put a scented candle in the fridge for a while, the candle will burn more slowly and evenly. First pack the candle into foil to prevent the wick from retaining moisture.
  • Clean the glasses and bowls as soon as the candle is completely burned and use them to store goodies or makeup brushes.

Conclusion.

Northern Lights Candles

The smell is delicious and looks a bit like the Baobab Platinum candle, only much cheaper! I can smell the scent on the whole lower floor and it’s warm and soft, I love it.
