Those who like to cook from the Asian cuisine (Indian curries) probably know Turmeric, a powerful antioxidant full of good qualities. It is one of the most common ingredients in curry dishes and ensures taste and color. Turmeric belongs to the ginger family and comes from Southeast Asia. Turmeric is receiving increasing attention from the medical community because of the substance curcumin which is in Turmeric. Showed numerous medical examinations that this yellow wonder herb has a strong anti-inflammatory effect and can reduce the risk of certain cancers and Alzheimer’s. The healing effect of inflammation is the most remarkable, but it also supports digestion, cleanses the blood and support to detoxify the liver. Need I say more?

Black pepper. Turmeric is unfortunately difficult to absorbed into the blood, but when you use Turmeric along with black pepper (thanks to the substance piperine) it increases the absorption into the blood.
But how do you use Turmeric in the kitchen?
Tea: How about this creamy Turmeric tea by Mark’s Daily Apple. Turmeric has a slightly bitter taste, but the addition of coconut milk and honey the tea gets a mild flavor.
- Green tea or camomile tea
- 2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- squeeze of lemon juice
- organic honey (for taste)
- pinch of black pepper (optional)
Put everything in a big mug and pour boiling water over it.

Smoothie: You can add Turmeric to any smoothie you like.
