Probably most of you are familiar with the Beautyblender, ideal to give your foundation that natural finish. The brand Real Techniques has a similar beauty tool developed namely the Miracle Complexion Sponge, where the Beautyblender is quite ovoid the Miracle Sponge also has a flat side. The brand Real Techniques is known for their fine brushes which are also liked by many makeup artists and are founded by the Chapman sisters who are also known from the popular YouTube channel Pixiwoo.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge.
The Miracle Complexion Sponge has three sides that you can use for different things.
- The flat side is perfect to apply foundation and concealer under your eyes and on the sides of your nose, but also to apply the foundation evenly on larger areas of your face. Tip; use the flat side with a “stippling” movement for more coverage.
- The pointed side is nice for some more precision so you can apply very specific foundation and concealer for example on a pimple. Apply a small amount of concealer at the point of the sponge and press lightly on the pimple.
- The round side is excellent to use for foundation and concealer but also for a cream blush and even powder. When applying a cream blush make a pushing and rolling motion, for applying powder it’s nice to use loose powder and apply it over oily areas of your face with a pressing movement.
The Miracle Complexion Sponge is a lot cheaper than the Beautyblender, it’s advisable to replace the sponge after three months for a new one. Clean the sponge every week with a little bit of (baby) shampoo and water, squeeze the moisture out and let it air dry.
Conclusion.
I’ve no experience with the Beautyblender because for times I used a foundation brush of Zoeva or just my fingers. After I’ve read several positive reviews about the Miracle Sponge I switched from brush to sponge. When I use a matte foundation I like to make the sponge wet first for a more natural finish, but at the moment I’m quite a fan of the cover-expert foundation of the brand By Terry and this foundation gives a healthy glow, then I’ m using the sponge rather dry otherwise the foundation is too wet and I’ll shine too much.
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is available at Lookfantastic.com for $ 7,32.
