Is coffee good for your skin?

If you would ask me what I prefer to drink, coffee is number one. At home I prefer to drink my coffee black, as far as I’m concerned this is only possible if the coffee is of good quality. Our Nespresso machine is my big friend and I order the Nespresso cups in abundance. I don’t drink decaffeinated coffee, but I like to drink a cappuccino or a latte macchiato outside the door.

As a coffee addict, I hope it will be good for my skin, but is that true? Scientists have shown that coffee is indeed good for your skin. Even better, that only applies to coffee with caffeine.

Women who regularly drink coffee appear to suffer less from rosacea. This is an annoying chronic skin condition that causes redness on your cheeks, nose, chin and forehead, sometimes accompanied by bumps.

Vasodilator effect
The scientists think it has to do with the vasodilator effect of caffeine. This effect not only reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, but it is also good for your skin.

Antioxidants
Did you know that coffee contains more antioxidants than green tea? Coffee is generally not really labeled as healthy due to the stimulating caffeine, but 3-5 cups of coffee per day provides 60% of your daily antioxidant requirement. Antioxidants combat premature aging of the skin due to heat, light, pollution and harmful free radicals.

Diabetes type 2

Then there are a number of health benefits. Five cups of coffee a day seems to be good for your heart. But there is more benefit.

Researchers at the VU University Amsterdam found that people who drink around seven cups a day develop this type of diabetes 50 percent less often than people who don’t drink coffee.

Chlorogenic acid is one of the many wonderful substances in the coffee bean, it is suspected that it protects the pancreas and liver against processes that disrupt blood sugar management. It also has the capacity to remove excess iron in the body.
