Last year, I received a birthday gift from Sephora, a lipstick and a black eyeliner from Marc Jacobs. A very nice color lipstick but it was the eyeliner that surprised me. I don’t like to use an eyeliner because it just doesn’t stay pretty very long on my eyelids. But this Marc Jacobs Gel Eye Crayon is the first eyeliner that doesn’t smudge. The eyeliner is perfect for my waterline, better said my upper waterline, because then I just seem to have a very thin line of eyeliner.
I received the eyeliner in the color black with a satin finish. Now Marc Jacobs has this eyeliner in as many as 35 different colors, 1 of which has a satin finish, 12 have a matte finish and 22 a shimmer finish.

I tested two different eyeliners, a matte and a shimmer.
The top is a shimmer eyeliner in the color 48 Ro (Cocoa), the bottom is a matte eyeliner in the color 47 Fine (Wine). I was especially curious about the wine color, red tones make the color of your eyes more intense.

They are not normal eyeliners but gel eyeliners in the form of a pencil. You don’t need a pencil sharpener as you turn the product out of the sleeve. The formula is creamy and very well pigmented.
Conclusion.
I like to use an eyeliner in my upper waterline. An eyeliner on my eyelid is difficult because my eyelid isn’t so big, it will always smudge. To prevent my eyes look smaller, an eyeliner in my upper waterline is a nice solution. From the black eyeliner, I already knew that it stays perfect in my waterline all day long, and these 2 colors are also beautiful throughout the day.
The eyeliners are waterproof and therefore smudge free, yet these two colors are slightly smudging on my eyelid, something the black satin eyeliner doesn’t.
The brown eyeliner is beautiful, both in the waterline and on your eyelid. The opinions are divided over the red eyeliner, some thought it was beautiful because it made my eyes pop, others thought I was crying! Let’s say that the red eyeliner is especially beautiful in photo and in real life it’s beautiful in combination with a good eyeshadow.
